GO has appointed Norbert Prihoda as chief mobile operations officer, effective from 15 October.

Mr Prihoda will succeed Peter Gauci, who is retiring. He will have overall responsibility for GO’s mobile operations and for executing the company’s policies, as established by the board of directors.

GO Chief Executive Officer David Kay said: “We welcome Norbert into our family and augur him the best of success. His experience within EIT and the telecommunications sector will surely be an asset for our group. Meanwhile, I would like to thank Peter for his significant contribution and wish him the best of luck in any new pursuit he wishes to take up.”

Mr Prihoda, born in Slovakia, graduated in the field of International Business Management. In 2005 he concluded his PhD studies in the area of foreign direct investments in telecommunications.

Prior to this appointment, Mr Prihoda served as Group Marketing Director for Dubai Holding’s Emirates International Telecommunications (EIT), the majority shareholder at Maltacom plc (GO).

Within the EIT responsibility, he focused on building up the commercial operations of group companies such as GO and Tunisie Telecom.

Before joining EIT, Mr Prihoda held progressively commercial roles with various operators, including T-Mobile, while working in a number of markets in Europe and the Middle East.

He contributed to the launch of three mobile start-ups in Middle Eastern countries and the commercial restructuring of a Greek incumbent operator.
