A leaflet that I was given lately talks about leadership and what it means to be a leader and I want to share some positive points with the readers of your newspaper.

Being a leader means you must serve, putting yourself on the line for what you believe, and speaking out for the good of others.

A leader is also one who helps others live as good human beings, who promotes self-respect, who sets an example for others to use their God-given talents, who influences people in a positive way, who uses power to serve, who encourages people to do good and who is willing to do what is right even if that means having to do it alone.

Those are some positive attitudes that a leader must keep in mind such as that every person is unique.

One also has to keep in mind that we cannot change people; people change themselves, but when we change ourselves we help those around us change too.

Finally, our good attitude can be shown to others through genuine appreciation, compliments, pointing out the good in others, using every chance to say a good word, or doing a kind deed, developing tolerance and courtesy, practising kindness, easing others’ burdens, acting cheerfully, learning to smile and finally doing unto others as you would have them do unto you. That is the golden rule.

In doing so, by the help of God, we can change, even a small part, our families, our country, our world for the better.
