One TV’s popular sports programme l-Argument will be on the screens once again as from next Monday from 9.15pm onwards.
This is the ninth edition of the Monday night sports show, that originated way back in 1999, thus making the programme the most aired live sports programme on Maltese Television.
The mission statement of the programme is to discuss what the sporting enthusiast in the streets likes to see and hear and that is what made this show the most popular one with increasing audiences according to Broadcasting Authority Surveys. L-Argument is more over interactive to the full and this makes televiewers part of the discussion through e-mails, short message services and via telephone with distinguished guests in the studio answering spontaneously.
L-Argument is presented and produced by Mark Cutajar together with Clinton Buhagiar, Davina Sammut Hili and Alex Camilleri, with ex veteran coach Pawlu Farrugia as residential guest. The programme is directed by Jason Busuttil.
This team is working on every detail to make this year’s show the best possible. As from this year, local Premier League football is again part and parcel of the discussion that will also include goals, interviews and other controversial footage that emerges from the weekend’s premier league matches. There will be footage from other local divisions including Gozo Premier League goals.
Foreign football, as usual, will also form part of the programme. The UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup and the most important domestic leagues, that is, the Italian Serie A and the English Premiership in collaboration with Melita Group, will also be given their due.
L-Argument will also air a series of features. A very popular feature is that from the past will once again be on the programme’s agenda although having slight changes which will definitely be nostalgic to those who lived those years thus creating curiosity to the younger viewers. L-Argument will also feature the local nurseries which play a vital part in every player’s formation. The feature will highlight the work Maltese and Gozitan nurseries are doing among youngsters. Obviously the man in the street will share his opinion through vox pops in bars and pubs of our sponsors.
With the return of the Premier League, we will once again have the One Sport Player of the month award. A jury made up of four sports journalists, who attend Premier League games, will vote for the best player who will then be classified for the month and the yearly awards. Awards will be presented in one of our sponsors’ establishments. This year the One Sports Player of the month award will be sponsored by Golden Tulip Vivaldi Hotel.
The second edition of L-Argument Supporters Cup will resume in November. Following last year's victory of Juventus Club Vero Amore, the competition will have a slight change in style thus making it easy for all the clubs to participate. There will be a great innovation. As from this year’s edition, supporters clubs of local teams will have the possibility to participate.
A new item in the show will be a sports quiz. Every week a group of maximum four persons, will answer a series of questions on their favourite team in five minutes. The best eight groups will qualify for the final stages in March.
Other various surprises in this ninth edition include prizes for those who take an active part in this year’s L-Argument as from October the first.
