Once again we have come to a phase where, as usual the Nationalist Party start their usual ruthless attack on anything that the Labour do or say. A typical recent example is Tony Abela’s threats that really evoke PN’s prejudice.
I stand to be corrected but I believe that any MP, regardless of situation and party, should always set an example and do his utmost of behaving well if the general public is to look up to him. However, what happened on Independence Day is truly a disgrace. Such an ironic situation of what they call a memorable day, the PN actually put in jeopardy the young Labour voters.
If this is not a show of pretension, abuse and offence; then I will have to admit that I do not know the true meaning of such words. Really and truly we all know about the red tape that goes around in the inner circle or the so-called “hbieb tal-hbieb” but this is much more outrageous than ever. The arrogance shown to a journalist for simply doing his job is totally unacceptable.
Moreover, I anticipated that the Prime Minister himself would be critical of such words due to the fact of his “new style of doing politics”, but this never happened.
Nevertheless, I reflected a couple of times on the statement that Dr Abela made; maybe he was giving a warning to vote Labour because he knows that if the Nationalists are elected once again, Malta would really deteriorate!
