Part of the Grand Harbour regeneration plan proposed by the government includes a yacht marina in Kalkara together with a maritime park in the Marsa Shipbuilding zone, Investment, Industry and IT Minister Austin Gatt said during the opening of the Valletta Boat Show, being held at the Excelsior Hotel dock until tomorrow.

Minister Gatt said that the yachting and maritime sectors are very important for Malta and one of the main reasons is the high level of value added they offer.

He added that just as the SmartCity is being created to concentrate on the ICT sector, the maritime park has been proposed to accommodate the maritime industry.

There are 48 yachts and 40 participants in all at the boat show.
