The normally quick to reply Mater Dei and government machine was unusually silent yesterday in the face of a revelation by GWU newspaper l-orizzont, and also Labour’s website maltastar.com, which revealed details of the government’s latest migration plan for Mater Dei.

Mainly, the plan seems to say that by 21 November, Mater Dei will be fully functional, offering a limited service between 12 and 20 November.

Maltastar.com also said that no fewer than seven departments at Mater Dei hospital are as yet incomplete. The Pharmacy Section, Porters’ Section, Biomedical Engineering, Domestic Services, the Infection Control Unit, the Occupational Health Unit and Waste Management are still “awaiting completion of work”. Work is also still in progress in respect of the staff restaurant and retail kiosks.

According to l-orizzont, this is the timetable for the Mater Dei migration:

Between 12 and 20 November: ITU and HDU.

12 November: MS2, WS2, M3, M4, all the patients in the Cardiac Medical Ward and half the patients in the Renal Unit.

13 November: M5, M6, M7 and S4.

14 November: MS1, WS1, S3, M8 and EEG/EMG.

15 November: M1, M2, GDW (Infectious Diseases Unit) and ISTZU (Infectious Diseases Unit).

16 November: NSU, Burns & Plastics Unit, CTS, CICU and O1.

17 November: ENT, Ophthalmology Ward, Orthopaedic Wards 1 & 2, Psychiatric Outpatients, Psychiatric Unit, half the patients in the Renal Unit and the Sleep Lab.

18 November: Accident and Emergency, Helipad, Hyperbaric Unit, Blood Bank, Wonderland, Fairyland, CCU, MAU, MS2, M5 and S4.

19 November: Disneyland, SCBU, Labour Ward, Labour Ward Theatre, ANW and the Pathology/Toxicology Lab.

20 November: Pathology/Emergency Lab, Gynae and PNW.

21 November: ANC/GOP.
