Melchior Vassallo has just qualified as a level 1 Squash coach.

He recently returned from Vienna, where he took part in an intensive three day squash coaching course organised by the European Squash Federation. This course was a follow up on the one held in Malta earlier this year.

On the final day he took a practical exam where he showed that he had practised and worked very hard throughout the summer to go from club coach to a Level 1 ESF coach.

To achieve this he had to show that he could demonstrate all the basic shots to his pupils and that he had full knowledge of the rules of the game and safety regulations on court. He also had to prepare and conduct a coaching session with a pupil.

Malta Squash now has two Level 1 and two Level 2 European Squash Federation coaches as well as three club coaches.

Coaching sessions are held at Cynergi by Eurosport, Living Well Health Club, Malta Union Club, Marsa Sports Club and the National Pool Complex.
