Two men were arrested yesterday after they were caught shoplifting from an optician’s shop in Sliema.
Sources told The Malta Independent that the management of K-Optics in Sliema had a suspicion that several items were being stolen from the shop over the past few days.
The shop staff studied the closed-circuit TV cameras installed in the shop closely, and noted that, last week, at least two individuals had stolen a number of sunglasses.
An eyewitness told this newspaper that while the staff were watching the recordings of the security cameras, the two men walked into the shop. The staff confronted the two men and locked the doors until the police arrived, arrested the two men and took them away for further questioning.
