Lawrence Gonzi’s admission in the programme Bondi+ last Monday, that he had himself added the word “only” to a remark by MLP general secretary Jason Micallef, showed how hypocritical the Prime Minister and the Nationalist Party were, the Labour Party said.
Mr Micallef said in an address that Labour in government would be a government for all Maltese and Gozitans, and a government for Labour supporters as well. Mr Micallef’s speech was played in full on the programme.
But the Prime Minister, who immediately corrected himself, added the word “only” to make the phrase read “government for Labour supporters only”, the MLP said.
It added that Mr Micallef’s speech had been manipulated by the PN and the Prime Minister had himself claimed at the independence celebrations, that the general secretary of the MLP had said Labour would be a government for Labour supporters only.
The MLP said this was just one case which showed that the PN would lie to convey its propaganda.
