It only happens in Malta.

Last Saturday 29 September, in the morning, Main Street in St Julian’s was closed to traffic while a crane blocked the road as construction works were in progress on some private property.

Triq Mikelangelo Borg from Spinola Square leading to the Regional Road Tunnels was closed to traffic as some trenching works across the road were in progress.

The Manwel Dimech Bridge was also closed to traffic as concrete was being cast on the section of the bridge under construction.

Needless to mention, Triq il-Bahar L-Iswed has been closed for traffic, since works commenced on Manwel Dimech Bridge, to allow contractors engaged on the repair works to store their building materials.

These roads were all closed to traffic on the same day and at the same time, leaving the residents of St Julian’s practically trapped and without a way out.

One could also witness repercussions of the above situation as far as San Gwann.

It is a pity that the St Julian’s local council does little to look after such shameful, to say the least, traffic arrangements.

All the above roads were closed to traffic without prior notice.

This is what one calls, “traffic management at its best”.
