More Students should continue post-secondary studies – MLP leader

Malta Independent Friday, 5 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

Alfred Sant yesterday saw a need for more students to continue with their post secondary or tertiary studies.

The Labour leader was speaking at the University of Malta during a visit for Freshers’ Week, which he said was important as it helped new students orientate themselves better.

He said that as the latest results of the Lisbon strategy had confirmed again, Malta was still lagging seriously in academic and technical achievements at the post secondary and university levels. This made it necessary for more students to continue post secondary and tertiary studies orientated to today’s academic and technological needs, which would open up new opportunities for young Maltese and Gozitans.

During his visit the Labour leader toured stands put up by the students.
