Last Monday I was watching Bondi+ on PBS and I remained extremely astonished on how much Dr Gonzi is detached from both the reality and Maltese electorate alike. During the Gonzi-Sant debate it was evident that Dr Sant’s message was a clear one; he was transmitting to the viewers the problems that the Maltese families are facing during their day-to-day lives.
On the other side Dr Gonzi, in a desperate attempt, tried to justify his popular statement that there is no VAT on education by trying to ridicule Dr Sant and stating that an atlas does not fall in the category of education. On the other side Dr Sant, working against all odds, especially Lou Bondi’s tricky questions, succeeded to win every argument hands down.
This debate showed us that a strong Prime Minister is not a puppet controlled by plenty of script writers (as we have seen on the granaries during the Independence celebrations) but one who like Dr Sant, with all his honesty and sincerity behind him, uncovered and brought to nothing all the gimmicks that were built up during these last week by the Nationalist propaganda.
Dr Sant proved again that he is ready to govern Malta with two strong hands, for all the Maltese, despite their political beliefs.
