The new Ambassador of Malta to Montenegro, Frank Galea, presented his credentials to President Filip Vujanovic in Podgorica last month.
In a private meeting immediately after, the Montenegrin President cordially welcomed and congratulated Ambassador Galea on his appointment and expressed his sentiments of respect and friendship on his own behalf and on behalf of the people of Montenegro to the President and people of Malta.
Ambassador Galea reciprocated the President's warm greetings and stated he was confident of good progress in relations between Malta and Montenegro, particularly in view of several possible fields of inter-governmental and commercial cooperation.
Currently, discussions are underway in double taxation, investment promotion and technical training. Ambassador Galea also conveyed Malta's support for Montenegro's EU aspirations, based on its strategic location in the Western Balkan region, which is the next area expected to be included in a future enlargement of the European Union.
