Malta Independent Tuesday, 9 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The Archbishop, Mgr Pawl Cremona, OP, inaugurated and then blessed an extension to Dar Familja Mqaddsa at Naxxar, a home for the elderly run by the Catholic Action.

The extension, which has been named after Pope John Paul II, can accommodate 24 elderly persons, with some of the 18 rooms made for couples.

The home is owned by the Jesuits’ Maltese province and is run by a voluntary board of management, all of them members of the Catholic Action. The extension cost Lm240,000, of which so far Lm100,000 have been raised.

The chairperson of the home’s management committee, Ms Joyce Pullicino, who is general president of the Catholic Action, said the project was started just under 30 months ago.
