Under the guidance of coaches Angelique Attard and Melanie Azzopardi, the Maltese swimmers won more medals taking the total to two gold, two silver and six bronze during the Special Olympics Word Summer Games with the Special Olympics Malta being supported by Vodafone Malta Foundation.

Silvana Cassar won the 200 metre in the breast stroke. In the same event but in a different division, Charmaine Mifsud won the bronze medal. Jonathan Borg has also won the bronze medal in the 50 metre backstroke for men.

In the Mixed Doubles division in bowling, Bjorn Tabone and Angele Azzopardi won the bronze medal with a total of 787 pins.

In the men's final in gymnastics, Brian Muscat won two gold and two silver medals. Brian Muscat has also been declared an all rounder, winning himself another gold medal.

Philip Gruppetta has won a silver medal in bowling while in athletics, Claudia Dalli and Amanda Baker gained the bronze and silver medal respectively in the 100 metre individual race.
