Man Charged with threatening policemen

A 46-year-old man was yesterday charged with resisting arrest, threatening a police sergeant and constable and impeding them from carrying out their duties.

Before Magistrate Audrey Demicoli, Paul Cutajar, from Safi, was also charged with breaching the peace, giving false information to the police and playing loud music after 11pm. He was also accused of committing a crime during the operative term of a suspended jail sentence.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The court granted him bail against a deposit of Lm200 and a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police Inspector Johann Fenech prosecuted while Dr Franco Debono and Dr José Herrera assisted the accused.
