I believe there is a certain strength in unity. The greatest example of honesty, sincerity and integrity shown towards the Maltese during the last five years by Dr Alfred Sant, Dr Charles Mangion and your good self has been incredible.

Through these years you have always remained with your feet on the ground, not just hearing but listening to the woes of the people. Many people are good speakers like yourself but few are good listeners like yourself.

The latter is an art that is possessed by a few. Dr Falzon, you have helped me in some different moments. You help anybody who needs your advice. You are that kind of person.

Once, ages ago, I heard you say during a Malta Labour Party conference: “We are different.” By “we” you meant Labourites.

Well, Dr Falzon, I have news for you. I cannot vouch for others being different (meaning having a deep regard for the worker) but I can vouch for you.

You have the ability to know that balance is the real foundation of a life which, even though is very busy, is also blissful. You have the superb ability to condition your mind and remain cool under all conditions. Your success springs from calmness of the mind.

It is a cold iron which cuts and bends hot iron in whatever way the electoral districts will be adjusted. I know that we are going to win this coming election. Michael, when we missed the opportunity to win the last election, you did not cloud your eyes with tears but kept your vision clear so you will not miss this coming one.
