Voices, Malta’s popular youth choir, is giving financial support to Razzett tal-Hbiberija after the contemptible act that took place in their grounds recently when 13 animals were stolen and a deer was brutally killed. What made this atrocious act even more despicable was that the animals at Razzett are used as a form of therapy for children with special needs, who adopt them as their ‘pets’.

The news has shocked the general public, and has struck a chord with anyone who has the interest of children at heart. Voices, whose biennial concerts raise funds for a wide range of charities, continues to show solidarity and support to the Razzett in its mission of working with children with special needs.

“The very spirit of Voices is to help those in need. In this case, children with special needs have been deprived of their beloved animals which brought them so much happiness. By giving financial support to Razzett we feel we are truly expressing our solidarity while emphasising what Voices is all about,” a spokesman for the Voices committee said.

Mr Nathan Farrugia, CEO and Governor of Razzett tal-Hbiberija thanked Voices for their initiative as well as the kind-heartedness and steadfast support they show in times like these. “Our therapy programmes revolve around the use of animals and horses, which we consider an integral part of our organisation,” he added.

Yesterday, the police confirmed that three people have been arraigned in connection with this case and five of the animals have been retrieved.

Razzett have stated they will use the donated money for their 'Interaction with Animals' programme.
