Duncan Bezzina and Simon Camilleri have been nominated by the Malta Billiards and Snooker Association to represent Malta at a forthcoming tournament in Sicily which will also include other sports disciplines.
This event, under the auspices of the Maltese Olympic Committee, is planned to be staged between 16 and 19 November. Other Mediterranean countries have been invited to take part.
Bezzina and Camilleri are the third and fourth ranked Malta players within the Malta Billiards and Snooker Association.
MBSA president Frans Bugeja and council member Paul Galea will be accompanying the two players and they will also be acting as referees in the tournament. They are both qualified international referees.
The participation of these players was the result of an invitation from the MOC. The tournament is hopefully the first in a series which could lead to IOC recognition of snooker in future.
