Another Epic film

Malta Independent Sunday, 14 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Following hot on the heels of the Gladiator and Troy successes, another blockbuster is scheduled to start filming in Malta, www.di-ve.com reported yesterday.

The story of the multi-million-budget film is based around Ancient Egypt. The film will be in pre-production in Malta for around six months, as the set building will involve hundreds of several local craftsmen. The directors of this production are expected in Malta in the coming weeks to sign the agreement.

Malta has been attracting filmmakers for decades despite facing competition from other production hubs.

Since the Mediterranean Film Studios and its water tanks opened in 1964, Malta has carried out big budget international projects that included Midnight Express, Cutthroat Island, Gladiator, Troy, Munich and recently, The Da Vinci Code.
