Vodafone Takes WiMax to Gozo

Malta Independent Sunday, 14 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Following the introduction of its all-inclusive packages for fixed line, Internet and mobile services to residential and business customers through fixed WiMax last June, Vodafone is now taking this new broadband wireless access service to Gozo. Vodafone @home will be available to all Gozitans by end of October. A demonstration unit featuring the service of WiMax will be installed at the Vodafone retail outlet in Arcadia, Gozo.

From as low as Lm5.95 (EUR13.86) a month, users get an Internet service with a speed of 1Mbps and 10Gbytes in free downloads. For higher speeds, Vodafone customers can opt for a 2Mbps Internet speed and 20Gbytes in free downloads for Lm9.87 (EUR23) a month. Customers can also opt for fixed telephony add-ons including 200 minutes worth of free local calls. Customers can conveniently pay online or choose to receive a monthly bill. Customers subscribing to this service do not need to change their current fixed line number. Customers can also move their broadband connection to wherever they go. Vodafone is also giving away a free cordless handset to customers choosing a Vodafone Internet and fixed telephony service.

Fixed WiMax can be used for several applications including wireless broadband connections in the home, high-speed connectivity for businesses and connecting multiple Internet users.
