Rowing: Malta Open Indoor Championships on Saturday

Lakes Indoor Rowing Club will for the fourth year running be organising the Malta Open Indoor Rowing Championships at the Marsa Sports Club on Saturday 20 October.

As in previous years the organising committee has once again decided to combine this event with a just cause of raising much needed funds for the Muscular Dystrophy society in Malta, hence the motto “Rowing for a Cause”. The general public is urged to go to the Marsa Sports Club from 2pm onwards to support the event or even try out the Concept 2 rowing machines.

The various categories start from juniors as young as 10 years old up to competitors of a very mature age. The categories are: Girls under 10; Girls under 13; Boys under 12; Boys under 16; Men’s Open; Men’s Open Lightweight; Men’s under 21; Ladies Open and Men’s over 40.

The races are over 2,000 metres except for Girls Under 10 which is 500 meters and girls and boys under 12 which is over 1,000 metres and the Team Event, which is 16 minutes with 2 minute changeovers (Most metres rowed will be declared winners). The team event consists of two males and two females.
