Senglea A 2

St George’s 0

Senglea Athletic beat rivals and neighbours St George’s in a keenly contested derby.

Senglea’s hero was ex-St George’s player Anthony Ewurun who scored a brace in the second half.

The first half was very balanced with few shots at goal. St George’s missed two sitters at the start of the second half, and they paid dearly for their mistakes, as Senglea forged ahead on 54 minutes thanks to an Ewurun header.

The match was now dominated by Senglea as they hit the post off an angled Bonello shot.

Nine minutes from time Ewurun sealed the issue for Senglea when he scored with a neat chip following a Senglea fast break.

Tarxien R 3

Marsa 2

Tarxien Rainbows are sole leaders following their second consecutive victory of the season - a 3-2 win over Marsa.

Tarxien were in commanding form in the first half were they created many scoring chances and should have closed the match.

However Tarxien took a two-goal lead after the first forty five minutes with goals from Simon Shead and Andrew Decesare.

In the second half Marsa pulled one back through Warren Chircop on 51 minutes, but four minutes later Decesare re-established the two-goal cushion.

On 65 minutes Chircop scored again for Marsa, but the Redblues failed to save the match.

Referee: Andre Arciola
