Open-air Double-decker and trees

Malta Independent Sunday, 21 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Every day at around 5pm, one of the open-decked double-decker buses is usually seen returning to its garage after a day plying Malta’s streets.

The bus would be empty but as it whizzes along on the hill next to the Paola Addolorata Cemetery, its top keeps brushing against the low boughs of roadside trees in a way that would be very dangerous if people were on the top deck.

One hopes that the roads the buses ply have been made safe for the passage of such buses, as this added tourist attraction should not be allowed to become a danger to its own passengers.
