A restaurant at Valletta Waterfront was the second one to be fined for displaying the wrong prices in euro and lira.

Government sources said the restaurant had been given more than 11 warnings; the first one was given in July.

The restaurant will be fined Lm750 and an extra Lm75 a day until the owner displays the right prices.

Sources said the restaurant owner was also offered assistance in changing the incorrect pricing.

Last June, the first establishment, also a restaurant, was fined Lm750 for the incorrect dual display of prices. Sources said the restaurant’s owner had not appealed the fine, but was invoking the section of the law asking the minister to consider a pardon. However, sources said, this was not expected to be granted.

In August, a well-known restaurant in Valletta cut its prices after the NECC intervened, acting on complaints that the outlet had substantially increased the cost of items on its menu in July.
