Kindly allow me through your pages congratulate the patrons of Linda's Bar in Gzira for their excellent charity raft race. Apart from raising money for the Richmond Foundation, encouraging people to take up a fun sporting activity, Linda herself could be found picking up litter from the slipway before the event and in her own way making a further contribution to a better Malta. In this way Linda, her patrons and the volunteers who helped make this a good solid fun sporting event supported and actively cared for Maltese society, the Maltese environment while encouraging a sporting physical activity and certainly a creative one.

As president of the Malta Canoe Federation (MCF) such experiences are a window of opportunity through which sport can become a long term personal investment and fervently hope to see this event grow each year.

However I would like to point out that although the MCF participated in the event, it has been suggested that we were the in some way the organisers and I would like to make it quite clear that a) we were not and b) that all of the credit and plaudits for this excellent event should fairly go to the volunteers and patrons of Linda's Bar, Gzira, not least Linda herself for a really different and creative event much needed on the Maltese sporting calendar.

Yours in Canoe Sport

J Craig Wightman

President Malta Canoe Federation
