We have been waiting for some social measures from the Gonzi administration for quite a long time.
After all, his leadership was characterised by various unsocial measures such as the surcharge on the electricity bills. Apart from that, Dr Gonzi has been part of the Nationalist government for the past years, first as secretary general than as deputy prime minister and now as prime minister. So we must not forget that Dr Gonzi was part of the decision that increased VAT from 15 per cent to 18 per cent. It was also the Nationalist government that in the 1995 budget decided to decrease the number of families benefiting from the children’s allowance. Now, few months before an election, bombastically, Dr Gonzi gave us something back so that maybe we still vote form him. Does Dr Gonzi think that we are fools? I am sorry Dr Gonzi, but that won’t change my mind. I will still vote for a new beginning.
