As has been its practice in the past years St James Hospital is once again sponsoring a sports event in the belief that sports contributes to a healthy life style in various ways.
Saint James Hospital Chairman Dr Josie Muscat and Medical Laboratory Services director Paul Sultana presented Loyola Basketball Club President Ray Cuschieri with a monetary contribution.
Dr. Muscat stressed the importance of sports in all stages of our lives but more so in our hey days. Dr. Muscat augured the Loyola Basketball Club success but emphasised that taking part in sports is not just about winning but also about character formation, for children to learn to strive, to face odds and to never give up trying.
Loyola Basketball Club was launched in 2003 and is presently based at St. Martin’s Sports Complex. The club’s purpose is to provide a highly specialised Basketball Training Programme
It is directed by Head Coach Sultana plus a group of five dedicated coaches who are considered to be the finest teachers of basketball fundamentals in Malta and who have vast experience working with junior players right up to the senior levels.
