The Marsa team finally won two games, one against the Malta Knights rugby league cricket team (originating from Australia), who are on their second tour to Malta, and against new touring team Ivanhoe C.C from England.

On Sunday Ivanhoe won the toss and elected to field first. Nowell Khosla and Mark G.Sacco opened the batting for the Marsa Side. Sacco was the first to go for 18 runs from an opening partnership of 40 runs.

Khosla was the next man out scoring 67 runs. Joy Ghoseroy kept the runs coming scoring 36 runs, Javed Shah scored 22 runs and Chris Naudi scored 24 runs while Sunny Krishna chipped in with 17 runs towards the end of the innings. Aided with 42 extras the Marsa team scored 240 runs from their allotted overs.

Adrian Dancer was the main wicket taker for the visitors taking four wickets.

Ivanhoe began the run chase well with the opening partnership worth 47 runs. M. Parnell scored 20 runs and D. Evans scored 16 runs.

Then there was a slow period from the Ivanhoe batsmen and they never recovered from it. M. Martin scored 11 runs, P. Parnell scored 14 runs, A. Dancer scored 17 runs and L. Parnell had 18 runs. The visitors were aided with 49 extras but it was not enough and only totalled 164 runs giving Marsa a second win on the trot.

For Marsa Sam Dhandapani and Gordon Hewitt were the main wicket takers taking three wickets each.

On the Tuesday, Marsa won their first game after several losses. Marsa playing against the Malta Knights Rugby League won the toss and elected to bowl first in the twenty overs game.

Luke Vella batted well for the visitors scoring 57 runs, Andy Wilmot scored 19 runs, Jarrod Sammut scored 13 runs including a mammoth six which landed on the pavilion roof. Zac Williams scored 11 runs and Car Old scored ten runs not out.

From the allotted overs, the Knights scored 155 runs. For Marsa Tony Slater, Mike Caruana and Ronnie Sacco all took two wickets. Mark G. Sacco led the revival of the Marsa team scoring 69 runs not out leading the side to the first victory for a long while.

Nowell Khosla scored 12 runs, Joy Ghoseroy 14 runs. Tim Wheeler 11 runs and Robert Krishna 14 runs not out.

Marsa made the required runs with one ball to spare. Only two Knights captured wickets, Alan Scanborouth and Ben Sammut.

Marsa play Ivanhoe today (10.30am start) and on Saturday (9am start).

On Saturday the academy/nursery will be from 9.30am till 11.30am.
