Gozo Missed out yet again

Malta Independent Sunday, 28 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

To mark the occasion of Heart Day, Flora Pro Active organised a series of seminars that included Prof. Alex Manche giving a lecture on the subject of heart problems. Also with him there was to have been a dietician with valuable suggestions.

On Sunday, 21 October I happened to be walking past our local council offices in Sannat and in their notice window I saw a small advert for this, on an A5 piece of paper the size of 8” x 6”, for Monday, 22 October, at Ta’ Cenc Hotel, so the following morning I phoned to see if they had any places available, only to be told that this particular seminar had been cancelled due to hardly any bookings from members of the public.

I spoke to many people about this, including people who work at the CCU in Gozo General Hospital, and nobody knew anything about it. And many people told me that, had they known, they would certainly have booked a place. This was an opportunity to hear a talk from the maestro himself and I am sure he would have given us the benefit of his expertise in answering many a question. As for the dietician, he would have been as valuable as the master himself, I am sure.

But alas, due to a lack of advertising about this most important seminar, we in Gozo missed out yet again. On making enquiries, I have been told that the seminar at St James in Valletta on Monday, 29 October is full, which consoled me no end. I must admit, however, that they did make the offer that if I went, they would somehow fit me in. OK, that is me sorted out, but what about the rest of Gozo?

Flora Pro Active, please get your act together. Do not leave us out of something as important as this and do your best to compensate us with another seminar – this time letting us know about it with posters or even a flier with the local church bulletins.

In the meantime, we missed out again.
