As in past editions of the Festival Mediterranea, a number of historical-archaeological site visits will be led by archaeologist David Trump, who is closely associated with the development of Maltese archaeology.
They include a visit to the Hypogeum in Tarxien, with Dr Trump giving an on-site interpretation. This visit will be held on Friday, 2 November at 3pm, with another visit scheduled at 4pm. Given the visitor restrictions at this site, only 15 places are available, offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Other events to be led by Dr Trump are:
A site visit to Ggantija Temples and the Gozo Stone Circle (normally closed for the public) today, at 2.30pm.
A site visit to Ras il-Wardija Punic sanctuary and Dwejra on Wednesday, at 2pm.
This year’s edition of Festival Mediterranea also includes a number of cultural and agrarian events in addition to the predominant musical aspect of the festival.
An agrarian event will be hosted by the Gozitano Agricultural Cooperative of Gozo. Visitors will go on a walk-through visit, seeing olive-pressing and the production of olive oil, together with limuncell and mushroom production. This event, to be held tomorrow, at 9.30am at the cooperative’s premises in Xewkija, will be concluded with a traditional finger food and wine tasting session.
