MLP Serves ‘those who support it’ – PN

Malta Independent Tuesday, 30 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Nationalist Party said the Labour Party’s policy was to serve its supporters.

The Labour-led local councils at Marsascala, Mtarfa, Mosta and Senglea, it said, were nominating people to council sub-committees to have a choice of people who were faithful to the party and who would be appointed to council positions and jobs.

In fact, the PN added, Labour-led councils, on the directive of the Labour Party, were employing these people without council approval, in breach of the legislation relating to local councils.

This meant that the Labour party was resorting to the tactics of the past to be of service to those who supported it. The MLP was calling this a new beginning but in fact it was nothing but a recycled system.

What was happening in the localities, the PN said, was a reflection of what the MLP was prepared to do if elected to government. The MLP’s official policy was to serve those who supported it, using taxation.
