The Marsa CC finished off the touring season with a bang. Winning the toss Marsa batted first against Ivanhoe CC.
Nowell Khosla and Mark G.Sacco opened the batting and put on a 148 run partnership before Khosla was caught for sixty nine runs including two fours and a six. Sagar Krishna was next in and next to go out for seven runs. Nadeem Ashraf was next in and he had other ideas – he was not planning on doing to much running. He hit his 50 in 25 balls and reached his 100 off 47 deliveries.
Ashraf remained not out on 127 runs including nine fours and eight sixes. Incidentally the visitors had dropped him when he was on eight runs and also when he was on 97.
Mark Sacco finished not out and batted the whole innings and also ended up scoring 105 runs in a different innings compared to Ashraf. This was both their first centuries in Malta. Marsa totalled a mammoth 331 runs from their allotted overs. For the visitors Matt Martin was the only wicket taker taking two wickets.
Ivanhoe managed too make 207 runs in the run chase before being bowled out. Matt Martins top scored with 87 runs, P. Parnell 24, M. Parnell 19 and A.Dancer 17 runs.
For Marsa Nadeem Ashraf, Kevin Krishna and Mike O’Meara were the main wicket takers with two wickets each. Marsa win the game and the series 2-1.
On Thursday the Ivanhoe C.C won their only game. Marsa won the toss and elected to bat. Nowell Khosla opened the batting and made 54 runs. His opening partner Tim Wheeler made his first century in Malta scoring eight fours along the way before being bowled. John Grima scored 46 runs. Marsa totalled 225 runs from their allotted overs. For Ivanhoe Matt Martin was their main wicket taker with two wickets.
In Reply M.Parnell scored 24 runs. Bob Collins (74 runs) and Matt Martin (87 runs) took the visitors to within victory and Max Francique scored eleven runs not out to finish the game with eleven balls to spare.
Next Saturday the nursery/academy will be from 9.30am till 11.30am.
