Course In Catholic social teaching

Malta Independent Thursday, 1 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Jesuit Centre for Faith and Justice in collaboration with the Archdiocese Pastoral Formation Institute is offering a two-year course in Catholic social teaching. The course is aimed for leaders of groups and multipliers in the social, economic, cultural, political and educational field.

The course will help reflect on Catholic social tradition and teachings in response to social, economic and political issues.

The goals of the course are to familiarise participants with social issues and how the Catholic Church is responding to them. Participants will be encouraged to do analysis of issues and engage in critical thinking about the social situation from the Church’s social teaching point of view.

Participants will be invited to consider their own personal responsibility in addressing social issues and how they can integrate the Church’s social teaching into their spirituality, their daily lives, ministries and professions.

The first session of the course will be on 7 November. The programme is based on the academic year with a weekly two-hour meeting in the evening and includes also a number of one-day seminars.
