The court yesterday placed a 48-year-old man from Nadur on probation for two years after he pleaded guilty to stealing money from a restaurant.
Mario Said pleaded guilty, before presiding magistrate Edwina Grima, to stealing Lm60 from a Cantonese restaurant in Mgarr on Sunday.
Magistrate Grima heard Said admit to having a gambling problem and how he had spent Lm2,000 in one week.
Following his guilty plea, magistrate Grima placed Said on probation for two years.
Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted while Dr Joseph Grech appeared for the accused.
