The veterans game between Italian and English legendary players should be a major attraction this evening at the Ta’ Qali national stadium.
The match, which kicks off at 7pm, is expected to attract a large crowd to the national stadium.
The two sides are replete with stars of the past such as Stefano Tacconi, Franco and Giuseppe Baresi, Alessandro Bianchi, Sebastiano Nela, Beppe Signori, Andrea Pazzagli, Alessandro Altobelli, ‘Toto’ Schillaci, Lorenzo Amoruso, Riccardo Ferri on one side, and at least Ian Rush, Paul Gascoigne, Tony Woodcock, Gary Pallister, Lee and Peter Bonetti on the other side.
Despite their veteran age, they will probably still have something to offer to the thousands of fans of English and Italian football.
Former Sampdoria and Italy striker Sergio Brighenti will be Italy’s mentor, while Peter Reid, formerly of Leeds United, will be coaching the English side.
Paul Gascoigne, for England, and Lorenzo Amoruso, formerly of Rangers, but now playing for the Italian side, both said they were looking forward to win this match, which they thought was very important for them.
