The World Health Organisation, UN Children’s Fund and the UN Population Fund have reported consistently over the years that approximately 500,000 – 600,000 women die the world over from complications of pregnancy.
A recent conference in London called “Women Deliver Conference” sponsored by UNFPA focused on abortion despite UNFPA constantly reminding us that they are not abortion sponsors. The conference concluded that the only solution to this “problem” is abortion.
The problem with using this total number of deaths is that it simply cannot be substantiated in any way. Dr Joseph Chamie, former head of the UN statistics department says that most countries simply do not keep statistics. Many countries, he said, do not even report the sex of the person who has died let alone the cause of death. At the end of October WHO reported that close to two-thirds of deaths remain unreported in national statistics. WHO said, “Only 31 of the 193 States have reliable cause-of-death statistics.”
Two years ago the UN Population Division issued a report “The World’s Women 2005: Progress in Statistics” that said “more than a third of the 204 countries or areas examined did not report deaths by cause, sex and age even once.” The report went on to say, “Even where the deaths are derived from a civil registration with complete coverage, maternal deaths may be missed or not correctly identified, thus compromising the reliability of such statistics.” The report also concluded that the progress in reporting deaths by cause and sex has been very limited since 1975.
The pro-abortion movement is known to invest in bogus statistics. Recently, the Spanish doctor brought over by the pro-abortion movement tried to make us believe that there were 5,000 maternal deaths annually of Maltese women due to “unsafe abortions”
How are we to believe this when according to the National Statistics Office of Malta live births in 2005 were recorded at 3,858? Dr Bezzina and Dr Gomperts now want us to believe that there are 900 Maltese women who demand an abortion, so what happened to the 4,100 others, who supposedly needed and abortion, and died in the process?
Dr Gomperts, in a TV interview with Brian Hansford on his show Realta, declared that she does “not keep statistics of how many abortion she carried out in Holland”; yet she proudly informed our journalists earlier at the news conference, as well as those few who bothered to attend the public debate later that night, that The Netherlands boasted of having the world’s lowest abortion rates. She flouted suspect WHO statistics related to the total maternal deaths by abortion in a sick attempt at gaining sympathy for her cause.
Deceit on this level only exposes the truth behind these so-called humanitarians.
It shows them up for who they really are. The pro-choice for abortion movement, which includes some local journalists, will only manage to get their way in Malta if they first manage to abort truth.
