Though marriage is something that is lived day in day out, one cannot embark on such a journey without some sort of preparation. Marriage preparation begins from an early stage, right after birth, by the parents themselves. It is proposed that this continues at school through “family studies’ where children can learn how to establish long and lasting relationships.

Two years before marriage, engaged couples are invited to join the Marriage Preparation Course, where, with the help of a trained married couple they are challenged to once again, both individually and as a couple, question what direction their relationship is taking and whether they are satisfied with the way things are; it also helps them develop their relationship skills in order to enhance their marriage and to grow and mature in their faith and in their choice of the sacrament of matrimony. Finally, it enables them to identify and work on serious issues that could be detrimental to their relationship, before they are married.

Couples who are briefed about the different stages of marriage, who seriously invest in their relationship and who place immeasurable value on committed and responsible love would definitely not consider it a waste of time.
