Maltese Representation at EUDY general assembly

Malta Independent Monday, 5 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

George Vella and Kristian Florian, from the Deaf People Association (Malta), represented Malta in the EUDY (European Union Deaf Youth) general assembly in September, courtesy of the HSBC Cares For Children Fund (HCCF).

EUDY establishes partnerships with deaf youth organisations in Europe, motivating them to generate awareness, come up with new projects and initiatives, and create new organisations. The Maltese participants’ positive experience gave them exposure to current initiatives in Europe with regards to education and opportunities, as well as challenges.

“HSBC Cares For Children Fund’s modest contribution has helped two Maltese youngsters participate actively in the European debate on deaf youth, alongside with other young people from 24 other European countries,” said Catherine Gonzi, chairperson, HCCF. “We are sure George and Kristian will turn this opportunity into tangible action.”

As a Go Key Client, HSBC benefits from the Go Loyalty Scheme which enables the bank to redeem loyalty points against a number of gifts. HSBC, in turn, donates these gifts for philanthropic purposes. Beneficiaries include Church homes for children, schools, Agenzija SAPPORT, the Church’s parochial office, the Ministry of Education, and the Special Olympics among others. Donations include computers, flight tickets, kitchen appliances, and office equipment.
