This year’s animal awareness activities at the Santa Venera Primary School were held last month.

Classes from Year One up to Year Seven participated in various activities. These included the drawing and making of charts showing different aspects of animals and their habitat.

Fleur-de-Lys Parish Priest Fr Joe Saliba blessed animals taken to school by the students.

Pets brought to school included hamsters, turtles, cats, dwarf rabbits and birds.

A programme of plays and reading of poems and creative writing by children was enacted. Following this, pupils had the opportunity to watch a display by the Police Dog Team.

This involved several exercises entitled “Command and Obey”.
