Public Consultation extended

Malta Independent Tuesday, 6 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

WasteServ thanked the public for the numerous suggestions made and ideas presented in the Qortin public consultation process for the design of a family recreational park, and said it was extending the consultation period until the end of November.

It encouraged the public to continue submitting ideas and proposals. Two public consultation meetings are to be held this month – one with residents of Xaghra, and another for all those in Gozo who were interested.

The closed Qortin landfill in Gozo is being utilised as a temporary waste transfer station, from where non-inert and non-hazardous waste originating from Gozo and Comino is transported to the Ghallis engineered landfill or waste recyclers in Malta. It is projected that the park will be completed within two years from the issue of all permits.
