Kavallieri York Cisk Excel once again were playing players in different positions, especially in the backs, trying to find the combinations that can help the team play more effectively.

Last week's Number 8 was playing at scrum half, the fullback was at stand off and last weeks wing was back at fullback, although he usually plays in the forwards.

Although a few were missing from the pack, they had enough power up front to dominate proceedings.

Kavallieri York Cisk Excel were slow to get going, but gathered momentum as the game went on.

Budweiser Qormi Sharks on the other hand, are the relatively new team on the local scene and are trying to bring their new players to a deeper understanding of the game.

They competed well for the first 20 minutes, but finally the Kavallieri York Cisk Excel onslaught took its toll, with a number of injuries, which saw them down to playing with 14 men, by the end of the game.

Cisk Lager man of the match was right wing Andre Camilleri of Kavallieri York Cisk Excel.

Kavallieri York Cisk Excel top the standings with five points, level on points with Stompers TGI Fridays, with a better points difference.

In the second game of the afternoon, a second string Stompers TGI Fridays team, ran out winners in a spirited game against Alligators Cisk Export.

The game was played in four seasons, as at the start, the sun was shining and a cool breeze blowing, but in the second half the sky opened with a downpour of rain.

The kind of day and opposition, that frustrated the Stompers TGI Fridays and didn't allow them to settle into any sort of rhythm, for long periods in the game.

With Alligators Cisk Export calling short line outs and trying to move the ball around, with a couple of big runners taking the ball up and their stand off putting the ball behind the Stompers TGI Fridays defence.

It worked for a while, but Stompers TGI Fridays did enough in each quarter of the game, to stay ahead and so not put too much pressure on themselves.
