The Customs and Immigration office at Mgarr Gozo will continue giving its services throughout winter months as from this year. The office, which normally opened between mid-May and end of September, processes customs and immigration formalities to yachts and sailing boats arriving or leaving Gozo from or to foreign destinations.
Services offered at this office, which is situated within the Malta Maritime Authority buildings at Mgarr Yacht Marina, complement services offered by customs offices at Ta’ Xbiex Yacht Marina in Malta. Until now, visitors entering Gozo on their yachts between September and May had to clear documents in Malta prior to entering Mgarr Harbour. Those leaving Gozo also had to undergo the same procedure.
The government feels that the present load justifies the extension of the service along the winter months, the Department of Information said yesterday.
