The Haydn Trio Of Eisenstadt Austria with Lydia Vierlinger at Manoel Theatre

The Manoel Theatre and Malta International Airport are proud to present the world famous Haydn Trio made up of pianist Harald Kosik, violinist Verena Stourzh and cellist Hannes Gradwohl. For this concert at Manoel Theatre on 20 November these prolific musicians will be joined by mezzo soprano Lydia Vierlinger.

The Haydn Trio Eisenstadt, founded in 1992, is one of Austria’s leading chamber music ensembles. The ensemble has had a long and distinguished performing record. Since 1995 The Haydn Trio Eisenstadt has presented an exclusive concert series at the Haydn Festival Burgenland, featuring all 43 piano trios by Joseph Haydn as well as the principal works of piano trio literature

In addition to regular concerts in Austria, the Haydn Trio Eisenstadt has been on tour to Germany, Italy, France, England, Ireland, Hungary, Israel, Turkey and Switzerland. The ensemble has performed at music festivals worldwide such as the Klangbogen-Festival in Vienna, the Haydn Biennale Vlaanderen in Belgium, the Venyssel Festival in Denmark, the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, and the Haydn Festival in Japan. The Haydn Trio Eisenstadt devotes a large proportion of its time to large-scale CD recording projects. The Trio will perform Joseph Haydn’s Trio in C major, Hob. XV 27, Scottish Folksongs by Ludwig van Beethoven’s and Franz Schubert’s Trio No. 2 in E flat major, Op. 100.

Lydia Vierlinger began her musical education playing violin and piano, and then continued her studies in New York/USA to then enroll in the classes for solo voice and vocal pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. Lydia Vierlinger has worked with Diane Forlano in London and with Herwig Reiter in Vienna. Since 2004 she has served as associate vocal professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

Possessing a lot of ensemble experience (Nova, Voces and A. Schoenberg Choir) Lydia Vierlinger has become a singer in demand for early music.

A solo CD with arias by Handel together with the Capella Leopoldina Graz under Jörg Zwicker, recorded in the Hofmusikkapelle Vienna in February 2004, was nominated in the vocal category for the Classic Amadeo Austria 2005. Together with soprano Deborah York and the Capella Leopoldina Graz under Jörg Zwicker, she has recorded Baroque Duets in August 2007 for Capriccio, which will be coming out around spring 2008.
