Tony Cilia Pisani, the President of The Malta Tennis Federation and a member of the Tennis Europe Junior Sub-committee , was recently given due recognition of his expertise in the management of tennis tournaments.

In fact he represented Tennis Europe at the elite European Junior Masters which was held in Orbetello, Italy. This tournament is an occasion where the eight best boys and girls Under 14 and 16 compete at the end of the tennis year.

Many famed European tennis players, such as Nadal and Klijsters, escalated to the higher echelons of tennis from this launching pad. This year the tournament was won by Carlos Boluda of Spain, a prodigious 14-year-old, who has thus become the first player in the history of the competition to win both the 14 and 16 under Masters titles. The girls’ title went to Sviatha Piazhanska of Belarus.

Presenting trophies to the players, together with Cilia Pisani, and Ayda Ulic, Chairperson Tennis Europe Junior sub-committee, was none other that Giuliano Amato, the current Minister of the Interior and former Prime Minister of Italy. The Minister is an ex-tennis player and the ex-President of the hosting Orbetello Club.
