The TV coverage on Sunday and the article in The Malta Independent (5 November) have shown up the importance of curtailing over-construction in Malta and, in particular, to protect areas of beauty for people to enjoy, now and in the future.

Once land is concreted over, it is lost forever, and perhaps the disastrous results which occurred in countries such as southern Spain, should be noted.

It is in the interest of all, including developers, to ensure development is within a well-defined strategy and aesthetically pleasing. A monstrous tower block on top of Mistra does not meet these criteria.
