Against Moldova, the players and the South End Core nearly managed a comeback to secure what could have been a well earned draw. This month the group is organising a trip to Greece to back the team for the second time in an away fixture, even though it again had to face various problems for a one day charter.
The Core managed to come up with a very cheap tour of Lm149/€347.35 for four days thanks to Fantasy Tours and Events Services. The match is being staged at the majestic Olympic stadium and will surely attract a good crowd.
On the same day, but on our own shores, the Maltese national team for Rugby has an important match against Latvia at Hibs ground and the South End Core believe that this stadium’s environment is the ideal place for organised support with a difference.
The match starts at 2pm and three venues, Rookies (Bugibba), Zmerc (Balzan), and Ryans (St Julian’s), are teaming up for the usual South End Core pre-parties giving away our black shirts with an on the day Carlsberg offer.
After the Rugby team Kavallier expressed an interest in helping out with the organised support for the national team at Ta’ Qali, the group is ready to encourage any other sport that provides the right facilities and a safe environment.
21 November is revenge time for our players and for the supporters. The 4-0 in Oslo is the only negative scoreline of this qualifying campaign and it marked a stadium full of Norwegians backing their team.
It is no secret that the Norwegians are coming in their numbers to push their team in their quest of qualifying for the Euro 2008 but will our country’s national team be their stumbling block?

Louis also mentioned the fact that they were approached by the organisers of the Legends match Italy vs England but obviously they could not contribute because a Maltese veteran team was not involved.
The group had initially suggested that a triangular tournament be staged at Ta’ Qali with Maltese players involved and is looking forward for such an event to be planned out.
