Labour Party deputy leader Michael Falzon yesterday instituted libel action against In-Nazzjon editor Alex Attard over a report in the newspaper which, Dr Falzon argued, aimed to damage his reputation. He is asking for damages up to Lm5,000.

Dr Falzon said In-Nazzjon, in a malicious bid to deceive readers, had taken extracts from an interview he gave to the newspaper The Times and joined them together to twist their meaning.

The writ was signed by Dr Edward Zammit Lewis.
