Malta Independent Tuesday, 13 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

A 37-year-old was yesterday jailed for six months and was given a Lm200 fine after he was found guilty of possessing cannabis not for his exclusive use.

The court, presided over by magistrate Lawrence Quintano, heard how on 10 May 2000, Christopher Camilleri, from Siggiewi, was seen by the police throwing something away at a square in Cospicua. Later it was found out that Camilleri threw away six blocks of cannabis resin weighing 18 grams.

The magistrate said the man was found in possession of the drug outside his home. He also took into consideration that the Camilleri testified that he did not use cannabis.

Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara led the prosecution.
