Zebbug Local council presents judicial protest against ADT and WSC

Malta Independent Tuesday, 13 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Zebbug (Malta) local council yesterday filed a judicial protest in court against the Water Services Corporation (WSC) and the Malta Transport Authority (ADT) in connection with water works at Freedom Avenue, Zebbug.

The local council was protesting against temporary mains installed by the WSC along the avenue after works had started in August in order to repair the connections running under the pavement. The mains were found to be entangled in the roots of the trees lining the avenue. The corporation stopped the works as it held that these may damage the road itself, as well as the pavement, houses and shops.

The council said the temporary mains are causing great inconvenience both to residents and commuters. It said it the WSC was waiting for the ADT to come up with a road rebuilding plan. The council held that works have fallen behind to such an extent that it is causing great inconvenience and damage to the residents of the avenue.
